Your First Appointment
Thank you for choosing us as your care provider.
On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure we have enough time to prepare any outstanding paperwork.
We are mindful that your time is valuable and would like to avoid keeping you waiting. However, occasionally a patient may require a little extra time, which can cause unforeseen scheduling delays beyond our control. Where possible, we will advise you if we are running late. We apologise in advance if you are kept waiting.
During your first appointment, a thorough medical and diagnostic work-up may be required. If you have completed any tests relevant to your care (i.e. blood test results, ultrasounds, MRI scans within 6 months, X-rays or CT scans), please email these to our administration team prior to your appointment date so that your doctor can thoroughly review them during your appointment.
Online Registration
Once you have secured an appointment time and date, you will be requested to complete our Online Patient Registration Form prior to your appointment so that you don’t have to manually complete it on the day.
If you prefer to complete your questionnaire on the day in person, then please arrive earlier to allow time for your paperwork to be completed.

Types of Patients
Melbourne Balance Clinic welcomes all patients with general neurology, vestibular or balance disorders. However, this is an adults-only medical practice and only sees patients over the age of 18. Paediatric patients are encouraged to see a paediatric neurologist or neurology service.
Telehealth Consultations
Telehealth may be permitted for you for follow-up appointments only, if clinically appropriate. This will be decided by your clinician upon request.
Given the clinical nature of balance disorders, all patients need to present for an initial in-person consultation and thorough check-up.
Follow-up appointments conducted by telehealth will receive a Medicare rebate, meaning the patient will receive a portion of the consultation fee back from Medicare.
Fees
We are committed to providing accessible specialist care, modern facilities with advanced clinical and diagnostic equipment, and well-trained clinical and administrative staff.
As a private practice clinic, all patients who attend the clinic are charged our standard fees – except for healthcare card and pension card holders, who are charged a reduced fee.
Patients with private health insurance are also required to pay on the day of treatment, and you will be provided with an invoice which you can use to claim back fees with your health fund.
DVA patients are subject to the same fees as other patient cohorts, unless they are also pensioners, in which case they will only be required to pay the reduced fee.
Cancellations
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, at least one (1) business day’s notice is required so that we may offer the appointment time to someone else.
Appointments cancelled with less than one (1) business day’s notice will be charged 50% of the appointment fee, and full payment is required before further appointments can be booked.
Late arrival may require your appointment to be rescheduled.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur and may take these into consideration.
If you have any respiratory symptoms (runny nose, sore throat or cough) please wear a mask to your appointment and inform us ahead of time.
